Leading Supply Chain Transformation

We worked closely with senior management and the Pulp EDGE Project Team to lead the people, process and change leadership components of this project. The main goal of Pulp EDGE is to streamline customer-centric processes across several lines of Canfor’s business and supply modes, beginning at the pulp mills in Northern BC and extending to thousands of customers in North America and around the world.

A Profound Experience

Canfor Pulp was leading the largest supply chain transformation project in the history of the company. Canfor engaged Berlineaton to ensure end-to-end processes were efficient, effective and had full ownership from staff at all levels: from the pulp mill floor to the corporate office. The main goal of pulp EDGE is to make life better for thousands of Canfor customers around the world.

For the first time, Canfor Pulp engaged hundreds of staff across three mills and a corporate office in a collaborative supply chain process transformation experience.

Practical Solutions

Working with a key internal leadership group, the Stream Leads, we mapped and redesigned current Pulp EDGE processes, realizing a significant reduction in supply chain process steps. Draft processes were ground-truthed and further optimized through facilitated interactions with over 200 Canfor Pulp staff. Outputs immediately informed the concurrent systems development component of the project.

Bolder Futures

As a result of this investment in the people side of process improvement, Pulp EDGE implementation realized significant cost savings over previous similar projects, a faster transition from ‘as is’ to ‘to be’ states and higher levels of understanding, engagement and ownership across the company.
